The Raleigh, North Carolina Family Honor affiliate has also been planning and delivering Family Honor programs. They presented the Changes & Challenges program for parents with their 6th grade child at Our Lady of Lourdes in Raleigh back in October. Their next program will be Changes & Challenges at St. Patrick's in Fayetteville on April 4 & 11, 2008. That will be followed by a collaborative effort with a South Carolina team for Real Love & Real Life at St. Francis of Assisi in Raleigh on April 18 & 19, 2008.
The Family Honor Raleigh affiliate reports that “… the Bishop of Raleigh supports our work and this has been a great encouragement to their team.”
“Our local team was also part of a large local pro-life fundraiser in October, The Benefit for Life Gala, which had 500 in attendance. This is a yearly event to support several ministries: Birthchoice Medical Clinic, Project Rachel, the Gabriel Project, and now Family Honor Raleigh.”
They also have a new team member, Team Leader Lisa Roess' husband, Ed, who just completed his training via Family Honor’s DVD-based college course.
Those in Raleigh or surrounding areas who would like to contact the team about programming should call Linda Gaviria, the Affiliate Director, at (919) 467-5527.
Our Atlanta affiliate thus far has presented three multi-session Real Love & Real Life programs for the 2007-2008 program year. On January 11-12 they delivered the weekend version of this program at long-standing host site, Pinecrest Academy. This has been followed quickly by two other programs, one on January 25-26 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Chattanooga Tennessee and the most recent on February 1-2 St. Peter Chanel Parish in Atlanta.
Their affiliate director, Mary Pat Haywood, says that their team,“… has now been presenting the Real Love Real Life Program for two years. Our team is growing, fourteen presenters, and we hope to continue to work to bring Family Honor to more parishes. Our evaluations tell us that people like the programs and would highly recommend them to a friend from both the parents and the adolescent viewpoint. Below are a few of the comments from recent programs regarding what parents liked best about the Family Honor program they attended:
- “Interactive time with my child”
- “The time with my daughter was priceless; chastity has a whole new meaning for me and my family”
- “The SPICE is a great way to explain self worth, self esteem and total presence”
