A Family Organization Upholding the Virtue of Chastity

February, 2008

Dear Friend of Family Honor,

For the 9th year, Family Honor has been invited to participate in “Birdies for Charity,” a fundraising event held in conjunction with the Heritage Classic Foundation and the Verizon Heritage Golf Tournament on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

This tournament has become the best-known fundraiser for Family Honor because of people like you!

You can help Family Honor continue our important work with families by your participation in this fundraiser. Simply pledge any amount – from one cent up to one dollar – for each birdie that is made during the Verizon Heritage Tournament, held April 14-20 in Hilton Head. (A “birdie” is a one-under-par score on any hole.)

For example, if you pledge 1 cent, and if 1,200 birdies are made, your donation would be $12. If you pledge 5 cents, and 1,200 birdies are made, your donation is $60.

For 2008, the Heritage Foundation will budget $100,000 and allocate, on a pro-rata basis, $100,000 among the participating organizations as supplemental income to the pledge money they raise.

This means that your gift to Family Honor will be multiplied! Here’s how:

You pledge (.01, .05, .25, .50, .75, 1.00, etc.) & it is multiplied by the number of birdies made in 2008 … … to figure out how much you owe.
After you send in your check to the Heritage Foundation,
the Foundation adds to your pledge with their own donation
in an amount to be decided by them.
The total amount from all the pledges plus the Heritage supplement is now sent to Family Honor in one check, usually in June.

Hurray!

You made a gift to help us help families. That gift was multiplied and thus keeps on working after you've made your original pledge!!

Through your gift, you are joining with us to continue to bring life-changing hope and practical tools to young people and their parents in South Carolina and across the U.S. and beyond in the coming year. Because of past generous donors, this effort raised $43,859.92 for Family Honor in 2006 and $16,580.07 in 2007!

We hope you will consider being a part of our Birdies for Charity drive. Here are the easy steps to follow to make your tax deductible donation: (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY)

  1. Download, print out and fill in the official 2008 Birdies for Charity Pledge Form. You must fill out and sign the form for any gift or pledge to be supplemented by Heritage.
  2. Once you have filled it out, you may:
    • Fax your form to Family Honor at 803.771.2379 by April 4.
    • If it is not convenient to fax your form, you may mail it by April 4 to:
      Family Honor, Inc.
      2927 Devine Street, Ste. 130
      Columbia, SC 29205
  3. Option A: If you pledged an amount to be determined by the number of Birdies made, then…
    • after you fax or mail your pledge form to Family Honor, an invoice will be sent to you by Birdies for Charity.
    • Once you receive this invoice for how much you owe, the deadline for sending your PLEDGE CHECK in is May 30, 2008. The check should be made out to the Heritage Classic Foundation (not to Family Honor) and mailed to the Heritage Classic Foundation at the address they will indicate when they invoice you. Or …
  4. Option B: If you decide to donate a fixed amount, (i.e. $50 or $100 or $1,000, etc.) regardless of the number of Birdies made, you may return your pledge form and your check for that fixed amount to the Heritage Classic Foundation right away (or anytime before April 1) at the address on the pledge form.

THANK YOU for your assistance in giving parents and their children hope! We invite you to read the comments below about our spiritually-based, family-centered approach to chastity education. They are from a dad who will become one of our Family Honor presenters in Pennsylvania.

Sincerely,

Brenda Cerkez
Executive Director

“Sexuality education that engages its participants to view the issues in a spiritual context taps into the redemptive power of God. By opening their lives to God’s redemptive power, participants in chastity-based sexuality education open themselves up to truth, to the real power to love and to ultimately do what is good …sexuality education grounded in the spiritual development of individuals directly addresses the degradation of sexuality, and provides hope that we can once again consider sexuality as God’s gift to humanity.”
