Course Instructor Bios

Ann Nerbun, R.N., M.S.N. - Course Instructor

Ann Nerbun was one of the original founders of Family Honor in 1988 and has worked with it ever since in a variety of roles. Currently, she is the Program Consultant for the organization, serves as a presenter for Family Honor’s parent-child programs and is also the primary instructor for Family Honor’s online course, “The Truth and Meaning of Sexuality, Love & Family: Cultural Implications.”

Over the years, Ann has worked as a registered nurse consultant, instructor of nursing, public health nurse clinician and staff nurse. Ann is a certified Natural Family Planning Practitioner (CNFPP) and previously served as Director of Natural Family Planning for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston, S.C., for 15 years.

She is a member of the American Academy of Natural Family Planning and Sigma Theta Tau, the national honor society for nurses.

Ann has co-authored several books for use in chastity programs, including “Our Power to Love,” with Dr. Ruth Taylor and Rev. Richard Hogan; “The Wonder of Me,” also with Dr. Taylor; and “Understanding Chastity, The Mystery of Human Sexuality,” co-authored with Mary Ann Fey and published by Liguori.

Nerbun received her undergraduate degree in Nursing from Georgetown University, where she received the University Alumni Award for Distinguished Service. She earned her master’s degree in Public Health Nursing from Case Western Reserve University.

In 2007, Pope Benedict XVI presented her with the Holy Cross “Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice,” the highest honor awarded to the laity by the Papacy.

Ann and her husband, Bob, are members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Columbia, S.C., and are the parents of seven children and the grandparents of 10.

Mary Ann Fey, M.Ed., Ed.S - Course Instructor

Mary Ann Fey has a M.Ed. degree in School Counseling and Ed.S. degree in Counselor Education. She has 25 years’ experience working in Catholic schools as an educator, counselor and administrator. She also has five years’ experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor working with individuals and families in private practice. She is an adjunct professor at Webster University.

Fey has been a Family Honor staff member for 18 years, serving as an Educational Consultant, Course Instructor and, most recently, as Director of Product Development. In these roles she has developed content and materials for parent-child programs, a college level classroom/online course, and presenter-training and professional-development courses.

As Director of Product Development she continues to incorporate new research in the areas of child development and family life, and to implement advances in technology into new programs and products for Family Honor.

Fey also has authored and co-authored a number of articles and books that have been published for use by professionals. She has presented at national conferences and holds membership in a number of professional associations.

Fey is a wife, mother and grandmother who is a practicing Catholic involved in ministry to her parish and diocese. She is a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Columbia, S.C.
